1965-66 Tom O'Malley (No 13)
Thomas O'Malley (1882 -1976) was the son of Michael O'Malley and Brigid Staunton from Clare Island. The family moved later to Tallabawn and Letterbrock. Tom went to Blackburn, England, and became a salesman for a sewing machine company. Later he went to Chicago in the USA and made a successful career in the insurance business as agent for the Indianapolis Life Insurance Co. He was active in the O'Malley Clan group in Chicago, sponsoring O'Malley events in the 1930s. He retired to Westport in the early '60s. He was a supporter of the Clan rallies from the beginning and was deeply interested in Irish history. Married twice, he was the father of eight children. He was elected O'Malley Clan chieftain No 13 in 1965.
