1990-91 Sal O'Malley McInerney (No 38)

`Sarah O'Malley McInerney (1918 - 2005), known as Sal was born in Muintir Eoin, Maam Valley, Connemara to Éamonn Ó Máille, engineer,  and Ellen Garrett, Eyre Square, Galway. She was educated at Sandymount Preparatory School,  Dominican Convent Sion Hill and University College Dublin, where she studied architecture. She worked in private practice in Dublin, then with  Clare and Galway County Councils and finally with the Board of Works. She married Frank McInerney of Scarriff, Co Clare, a building contractor and they founded Park Developments Group, where she served as Chair of the Board. They had three children, Brendan, Angela (Cotter) and Doreen. Sal was elected as Chieftain No 38 of the O'Malley Clan in 1990 and held her Gathering at Trinity College Dublin in 1991. She served as Guardian Chieftain from 1994 to 1997.
