The 1988 O'Malley Clan Gathering was held in Newport and Mulranny under the leadership of Joe Blackwell, Chieftain No 35 of the O'Malley Clan. 

It was also the venue for the launch of Sheila Mulloy's superb book O'Malley People and Places, by Des O'Malley, T.D.
