1980-81 John E O'Malley (No 28)

John Edward O'Malley (1912 - 1988) was born in Lanmore, the son of Thomas J O'Malley, Lanmore, Westport and Sheila McKay of Kilmeena, Westport. He was educated at Lankill School, Lanmore and became a farmer and livestock exporter in Ardee, Co Louth. He was a keen follower of horse racing. He married Margaret O'Malley of Furmoyle, Louisburgh and they had seven children, Raymond, Madeline, Grace, john J., Edward, Derville and Pierce. He was a regular attender at Clan rallies and was elected Chieftain No. 28 in 1980, two years after his brother Thomas.
