The O'Malley Clan Association
US CHAPTER
Contact email: usa@omalleyclan.ie
A brand new development of late has been the establishment of a new "local" US Chapter of the O'Malley Clan Association in the USA. This initiative, spearheaded by O'Malley Clan Members Kathleen Carr in Illinois, Sean O'Malley in Virginia, and former Chieftain Cormac O'Malley in Connecticut, is very welcome. As the USA celebrates it's 250th birthday this year, it'll be great to have some focus on local events in the US, and through these events we can continue to fulfill our mission of forging connections between O'Malleys all around the world.

From the O'Malley Clan Newsletter (July 2026)
Kathleen Carr
The gathering in Ennis was an incredibly successful event due to the many hours that our former Chieftain Denise O'Malley spent preparing and planning. For 73 years our Clan has promoted friendship between its members, increased the knowledge of our strong history and encouraged loyalty to our traditions. This has only been possible due to the continued leadership and guidance of our former Chieftains. The United States of America is currently celebrating our 250th year of Independence. Although that pales in comparison to the rich history of Ireland, we do think it is something to be acknowledged. With that acknowledgement comes the very realpossibility that our independence would have never been achieved without the assistance of Irish citizens. We literally owe our nation's existence to some of your countrymen. In recognition of the strong ties between our countries, a United States Chapter of the O'Malley Clan Association has been established. Cormac O'Malley, Sean O'Malley and myself are working diligently to raise awareness about the Clan in the United States. With that awareness we hope to open lines of communication between O'Malley family members. Quarterly meetings will be held virtually via Zoom. During these meetings we will be honoring former Chieftains, hearing from featured speakers, highlighting regional events that promote Irish culture and offering resources for those that are researching their family history. Please join us. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. It is through the vision of Former Chieftain Governor Martin O'Malley that this chapter was established. Please know that our chapter will strive to carry out the objectives outlined in our Clan's Constitution. We will strive to increase the knowledge of the clan's strong history, promote attendance at the gatherings, increase readership of the educational newsletter and encourage trips to those monuments that are associated with our clan. At the start of any new venture, it may be just as important to clarify what it isn't than what it is. Please know that the establishment of the United State Chapter of the O'Malley Clan is NOT the yanks going rogue. It is however, a group of dedicated individuals, standing up and giving back to a Clan, a community, a culture and a country to which they owe everything.
