1979-80 Dr Thomas O'Malley (No 27)

Dr Thomas Anthony O'Malley (1932 - 2023) was born in Southport, Lancashire, England, the son of Michael O'Malley, Kilgeever, Louisburgh and Margaret Melia from St Helen's Lancashire. Tom graduated in medicine from the University of Liverpool in 1956, and pursued graduate studies in Liverpool, the USA and Canada, becoming Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine in the University of Rochester, N.Y. from 1966 to 1972 before moving to Florida as Assistant Clinical Professor of Gastroenerology in the University of South Florida. He had five children with his first wife, Margaret O'Kane: Anne, Patricia, Katherine, Jane and Peggy. After her death in 1985, he married Marianne Rapier. His interests were oenology, travel and history. He was elected the 27th Chieftain of the O'Malley Clan in 1979 and held his Rally at Westport in 1980.
